HTM and ADAC Luftrettung receive follow-up contract for the "Flying Intervention Team" of the Munich Clinic

27. Oct 2022

Within the framework of the "Flying Intervention Team" project, HTM and ADAC Luftrettung have again been awarded a contract by München Klinik gGmbH to carry out helicopter flights under HEMS status.

The intervention team of the telemedical stroke network TEMPiS at the Munich Clinic - Harlaching is to be flown in this way as quickly as possible to partner clinics to perform mechanical clot removal (so-called thrombectomy) on severely affected stroke patients. The follow-up contract follows a successful pilot phase in which it was proven that the flying doctors were able to treat affected patients 90 minutes faster on average.

The "Flying Intervention Team" consists of a neuroradiologist and an angiography assistant and is specialised in performing thrombectomies on stroke patients. When the alarm is raised, the TEMPiS intervention team is immediately flown by helicopter to the requesting hospital to perform the medical examination and treatment. As such treatments are extremely time-critical, HTM keeps a helicopter and crew on standby 14 hours a day, 7 days a week in the immediate vicinity of the München Klinik Harlaching in alternation with ADAC Luftrettung.

In cooperation with ADAC Luftrettung gGmbH, this important medical assistance can now be provided 365 days a year in phase two of the project.
